ASHLEY BURDEN
I am the Director of Communications for the Robert J. Trulaske, Sr. College of Business at the University of Missouri. In this role, I oversee marketing, communications and promotions for the college with an emphasis on consistent messaging and brand management across multiple programs and departments. I partner with the University of Missouri to further its land grant mission of education, research and service.
I joined the college in 2012 after establishing a career in health promotion and advocacy at the Alzheimer's Association. There, I was Director of Communications and Public Policy and served the Greater Missouri Chapter and the Coalition of Missouri Chapters. I led communication and branding efforts with a focus on grass roots marketing efforts. I also represented the organization as a lobbyist and advocate for Alzheimer's on both a state and national level.
From 2006 to 2008, I served with my husband Mike as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Bayankhongor, Mongolia as a Public Health Worker. I worked closely with local counterparts on health campaigns and was part of a committee that established the now fully operational Center for Children with Disabilities, a regional diagnostic and treatment center.
As a student at the Missouri School of Journalism studying strategic communication, advertising and graphic reporting, I taught courses in graphic design and completed an internship at the South Florida Sun Sentinel in the Graphic Reporting Department.
Throughout my career, I have worked as a freelance designer and writer both in paid and volunteer roles. Most recently, I was a member of the planning committee for the Central Missouri Returned Peace Corps Volunteers Third Goal Film Fest.
